I have the honor to forward the enclosed application from Dr Morrison, the Colonial Surgeon, for an increase of salary.
I perceive that my predecessor has already transmitted in Despatch No. 127 of 27th December last, a request from Dr. Morrison to the same effect.
I am satisfied in my own mind that the salary of the Colonial Surgeon is an inadequate remuneration for the duties of his office, which latterly have been heavier, from the necessity of Dr Morrison being compelled occasionally to proceed to the outstations of Stanley, Aberdeen, and Shek-O-Wan, as also from...
